A Closer Look at HydraFacial Procedures and Their Benefits

The Benefits of HydraFacial Treatments

Facials are more than a beauty treatment, and are just one of many ways to ensure you’re properly caring for your skin. While they smooth the face and improve appearance, they also help rejuvenate skin, fight aging, reduce wrinkles, and improve hydration retention. Athena Wellness offers multiple facial options, and among them are our HydraFacials™. These specialty resurfacing procedures provide cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, and more.

HydraFacial

With a slogan like “Skin health for life,” it’s no surprise that HydraFacials™ have become so popular! HydraFacials™ use patented Experience Vortex-Fusion® treatments, where each treatment uses a series of HydroPeel® tips. Each tip is designed for a specific step of the treatment. Blue, orange, and purple tips help exfoliate, teal is used during extractions, and clear ones fuse and protect. HydraFacial™ combines their processes into just three steps, but we’ve gone even further, delving into the five detailed steps of HydraFacials™ that’ll have you glowing in no time.

Cleanse and Exfoliate

Step one of the HydraFacial™ process is cleaning your skin and taking off any dead skin cells that currently exist along the top layer. They’re removed to reveal the healthy new skin that lies underneath.

Acid Peel

Step two involves an acid peel. Don’t let the name scare you though! These peels are gentle, and simply loosen dirt and debris from the pores of your skin, all without causing any irritation.

Extractions

Step three of your HydraFacial™ includes extractions. Again, no need to worry about the name – extractions are painless! They use vortex suction, which gently brings remaining dirt and debris from the deepest parts of your pores.

Hydration

Step four is the hydration step. Using Vortex-Fused™ tools and technology, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid are applied to the skin. Antioxidants help protect against free radicals, and hyaluronic acid aids skin tissue in retaining water. Both are totally safe, and hyaluronic acid is actually produced by your body naturally in order to keep skin, connective tissue, and eyes lubricated.

Protection

The fifth and final step of the HydraFacial involves protecting the skin that was just revealed and nourished, giving it the nutrients it needs so you can put your best face forward. The HydraFacial™ Daily Essentials™ formula that is applied will help maintain and protect your results.

HydraFacials’ Role in Antioxidant Exposure

As mentioned previously, antioxidants help protect the body from free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms that can damage healthy cells, and they play an especially prominent role in skin damage and aging processes. When a cell is affected by free radicals, it can have its chemical makeup destroyed, causing microscopic skin health deterioration. We are exposed to sources of free radicals every day, including stress, pollution, sunlight, and miscellaneous toxins, which means that this deterioration can certainly take a toll over time. The best all-natural way to fight free radicals is antioxidants, which can be found in Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and various plant extracts.
