Fun Ways to Exercise This Summer

Get Moving In All The Right Ways To Exercise And Enjoy

If you want to lose weight, you know you have to eat right, but that’s only part of the battle. The magic key to your success is to combine the right foods in your diet alongside more exercise and movement in your life. Dieting doesn’t have to be as painful as it sounds. In fact, during the summer months, the exercise portion can even be fun. And once you recognize how much better you feel—along with eating right and moving more—it makes it a lot easier to continue with your new lifestyle and even find more ways to workout in entertaining ways. Here are a few ways to increase and maintain your health in fun ways this summer:

 

Dance Classes

Have you ever heard of Zumba? It’s a workout class, but it includes dance with upbeat music and moves you may not have tried in years. If you love to dance, it’s a great way to get your groove on while you move your body and workout. It doesn’t feel like a workout if you’re having fun. If that’s too much for you, try a barre class. These classes include strength training, stretches, and things that ballet dancers have to do, but anyone can join at their level and work up. Or, grab your significant other and learn some ballroom dancing steps!

 

Swimming

Swimming isn’t just a great way for the kids to cool off with their friends on a hot day. Instead of taking a beach towel and a book, jump into the pool with them. Holding onto the side and kicking your legs is a great workout and you can go a step further and dive into the lap portion of the pool to get a few laps in while you stay cool and keep an eye on the kids.

 

Hiking

There’s nothing like fresh air and nature to help you get away from it all, but rather than sitting on a park bench and feeding the birds, find a new trail or two and take some friends or your family on a nice long hike. Hiking is a great way to enjoy exercise, which otherwise feels like a simple walk and a chore. Keep a count on how many different birds you see, what plants are blooming, and whatever else you enjoy as you hike.

 

Walking The Dog

It’s a chore that has to be done and perhaps you often relegate it to the kids or your spouse. Instead, take over that element of family life yourself this summer as an excuse to get in a good walk. The dog needs to get his energy out and do his business so, you are burning calories and getting household chores checked off the list. If your kids are restless, have them jump on their bikes and ride along.

 

Get Your Exercise In Everywhere

There are lots of ways you can ‘workout’ this summer without it really feeling like a workout. Get creative with your parking and walk the long way into the store. Take stairs whenever they are available and forget about elevators. Make exercise something you enjoy and just a part of your life.
