We can build a program that works for you. Exercise has been shown to be the most important part to maintain weight loss. It is imperative to have a program that works in your lifestyle and is something you enjoy. We can assist in building a program with tools you already have – like the elliptical at home being used as a clothes hanger—or offer recommendations on different activities to try. If you are a beginner, we will teach you different strength training exercises. We offer DVD programs and will make recommendations based on your current health and physical limitations. We will build your program from the ground up. We can also assist you in finding a personal trainer if you make the decision to obtain one.
P90X is a 90 day fitness program with 3 phases and a total of 12 different workouts so you will never get bored. This program gives a strong emphasis to resistance training and includes cardio and core training. To do the program as it was designed, it is an hour long workout, six days a week. You will need resistance bands or weights and a pull up bar to complete the program. I have many patients scared that it will be too intense for them, but I assure them it is designed for you to become your best possible you in 90 days. You may start off only being able to do 5 pushups in the allotted time and rest the remaining minutes on day 1, but by day 89 you may be able to do 30 in the given time. You best yourself each time. You spend less time resting and more time moving as you get stronger each time. The first time I did the plyometric workout, I was sure I was going to die. The next time, I knew I was still going to struggle but I would get through it, and I focused on trying to stop less often. It gets better each time. Not easy, but doable.
Who do I recommend P90X to?
Anyone who wants to commit to a 90 day program to maximize results. They want their best possible body in 3 months time and can commit an hour a day to each workout. The concentration on form makes it a good fit even if you have never lifted a weight before. It can be very high intensity and there are some workouts I consider high impact, but they can be modified. Stop when you need to. Breathe when you need to. Don’t worry if you can do every move the first day. And if a movement hurts while you are doing it, simply stop.
Brazil Butt Lift
I cannot say enough positive things about this program. The cardio is fun and energizing and always leaves me in a good mood. The Bum Bum workout is an unbelievable lower body workout compacted into a very doable time period. The High & Tight workout focuses on exactly what the problem area is. As a weight loss doctor, I often tell my patients you cannot spot reduce. Many times it is genetically predetermined where you will lose weight first and last from. This program gives you the tools to actually change the glutes and thighs and target fat loss. And it is fun!
Who do I recommend the Brazil Butt Lift to?
Generally women who want to tone the hips, waist, and thighs. You can really spot reduced the fat by focusing on building the muscle underneath. There are a lot of squats and lunges involved in the program so someone with knee issues may need to modify the movements.
In my opinion, this is the hardest, most intense DVD program out there. It is designed to push you, it is high intensity and often high impact. It is designed to be a 60 day program with two phases and you can get amazing results. It is cardio and body weighted resistance. For most non-athletes, this program falls into what I consider HIIT (high intensive interval training). You go at it hard for a short time with rest in between. HIIT has been shown to burn more calories and raise metabolism the rest of your day.
Who do I recommend Insanity To?
The insane? LOL – maybe. I recommend it to my patients that want to push themselves, my athletes that want to get faster and more powerful, to patients that have been exercising consistently and want to try something different or lower their body fat down to their goal. This is not a program for a beginner but it will burn fat for those that are brave enough to complete it!
10 minute trainer
I am a fan of all things associated with Tony Horton. This combines full-body sculpting and fat-burning cardio. It is built on the premise of getting fit with a 10 minute workout. Only have 10 min? You have time to workout. Have 20 minutes today? Stack two of the workouts for a longer workout. Not having enough time is no longer an excuse.
Who do I recommend the 10 Minute Trainer to?
I recommend it to my patients that are just getting started on their fitness journey and those that have very little time to exercise.
GET IT DONE: IN 25 MINUTES A DAY! This is the only program I have not had personal experience with. (Mine is on the way!) This program is designed for the client that wants to get their workout done as quickly as possible. This is another of Shaun T’s programs, and I have always liked his routines. It is a 10 week program split into two cycles. This is an exact quote, “It’s 25 minutes of pure intensity and 100% focus. No REST!” Makes sense doesn’t it? If you want the same results in less than half the time of a normal workout, you have to work for it! Although I do not have this program yet, my patients that have started it love it. One woman told me it is her favorite Beachbody program of all times and she is a Beachbody coach!
Who do I recommend T25 to?
My patients that have very little time and want a total body, effective workout in the shortest time possible. This is high intensity and not a program I would recommend to a beginner.
Chalene brings her energy and enthusiasm for fitness to a different level in TurboFire. This workout plan is built around HIIT (high intensity interval training) which burns more calories than steady state cardio. Any program with Chalene includes fun music to keep you moving. This program pushes you to achieve results in just 30 minutes a day. This is high intensity and high impact.
Who do I recommend TurboFire to?
Patients who like getting their workout done in less than 30 minutes and like performing HIIT. There are 12 different workouts, so you don’t get bored. For my patient’s that enjoy Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred, this is the next program I recommend as it is a step up in duration and gives so much variety.
I am nostalgic about this program. It was the very first Beachbody program I owned and was integral in the start of my own journey to fitness. I grew up in the aerobics era – step classes and such. Turbo Jam was perfect for me – it is fun, funky, and is set to fantastic music that motivated you to keep going. If you worry about feeling uncoordinated, Chalene is a gifted instructor that cues you to stay on track. This program is appropriate for all fitness levels.
Who do I recommend Turbo Jam to?
Everyone! This is a great program for ladies getting started with exercise that need to stay motivated to keep going.
Slim in 6
Honestly, this is the program I recommend in my practice the most. It starts with a 25 minute program that combines cardio and resistance training. It is perfect for my ladies that have never weight trained before. It is so much fun to see patients back for follow-up after they have been doing Slim in 6 for a month. It is amazing what the body is capable of in one month. This is low impact and I feel can be done by most anyone. There are squats and lunges and I simply have my patients modify if it hurts their knees. I have had 50+ year old women cry in my office after starting Slim in 6 when they achieve body changes they couldn’t obtain in their 20’s. It is a perfect intro to weight training!
Who do I recommend Slim in 6 to?
Everyone! Seriously, this is a great program for anyone, man or woman, looking to get more fit and start resistance training.
Hip Hop Abs
Hip Hop Abs is a Shaun T. program that is full of fun music with high energy moves that leave you sweaty, exhausted, and in a good mood. This is a great cardio program for people who like to dance. It is not high impact and is appropriate for any fitness level.
Who do I recommend Hip Hop Abs for?
My patients that like to dance for exercise at any fitness level.
